Facebook lead ads that bring qualified enquiries
Lead ads let people enquire without leaving Facebook or Instagram. That makes leads cheap, and quality can drop. We set them up to filter for intent and feed quality back to Meta.

What are Facebook lead ads?
Facebook lead ads are ads with a built-in form, called an instant form. When someone taps the ad on Facebook or Instagram, the form opens inside the app, pre-filled with details from their profile such as name, email and phone. They can submit it in a few taps without leaving the app, which makes it much easier to enquire on a phone.
How do Facebook lead ads work?
- You create a campaign with the Leads objective in Meta Ads Manager.
- You build an instant form: an intro, your questions, a privacy policy link and a thank-you screen.
- Meta shows the ad to people it predicts will submit the form.
- Leads are stored in Meta and can be sent instantly to your CRM, email or sales team.
Are Facebook lead ads effective?
They are effective at bringing lead volume at a low cost. The risk is quality: because forms are so easy to submit, some people enquire with little intent or by accident. The fix is to set up the form and tracking for quality, not volume.
How to get better quality leads
- Use the "higher intent" form type, which adds a review step before submitting.
- Ask one or two qualifying questions, such as budget, timeline or service needed.
- Use custom questions that need a typed answer rather than only pre-filled fields.
- Be clear in the ad about what happens next and who it is for.
- Follow up fast, ideally within minutes.
- Send lead quality back to Meta. Connect your CRM through the Conversions API so Meta learns which leads became qualified or customers.
How to track Facebook lead quality
Each lead has a lead ID. When your sales team marks a lead as qualified or won in your CRM, that status is sent back to Meta as a conversion event through the Conversions API for CRM. Meta can then optimise for leads that convert, not just for form submissions. This is the single biggest improvement for most lead ad accounts.
Instant forms or website forms?
| Instant forms | Website forms | |
|---|---|---|
| Cost per lead | Usually lower | Usually higher |
| Lead quality | Varies; needs qualifying | Often higher intent |
| Best for | Simple offers, quotes, call-backs | Considered purchases, detailed enquiries |
We often test both and compare the cost per qualified lead, not the cost per form.
Testing and connecting your forms
Before launch we use Meta's lead ads testing tool to submit test leads and confirm they arrive in your CRM or inbox. Published forms cannot be edited, so we duplicate and update them when questions change. See also click-to-WhatsApp ads for leads who prefer to chat.
Frequently asked questions
What are Facebook lead ads?
Ads with a built-in instant form that opens inside Facebook or Instagram, pre-filled with the person's details, so they can enquire in a few taps.
Are Facebook lead ads effective?
They bring leads at a low cost. Quality depends on the setup: higher-intent forms, qualifying questions, fast follow-up and sending lead quality back to Meta.
How do I get leads into my CRM?
Through a direct CRM integration, a connector tool or Meta's API. We test the connection with Meta's lead ads testing tool before launch.
How do I track lead quality from Facebook?
Mark leads as qualified or won in your CRM and send those statuses back to Meta through the Conversions API, so Meta optimises for real customers.
Can I edit a lead form after publishing?
No. Published instant forms cannot be edited. You duplicate the form, make changes and attach the new form to your ads.
Instant forms or a landing page?
Instant forms usually bring cheaper leads; landing pages often bring higher intent. We compare both on cost per qualified lead.
