ChatGPT ads conversion tracking you can trust
If you cannot measure a new channel, you cannot judge it. We install OpenAI's Measurement Pixel and Conversions API, deduplicate events and check that every lead and sale is counted once.
What our Conversion tracking service covers
Measurement Pixel
Installed on your site with the right standard events, such as purchases and leads.
Conversions API
Server-side events for accuracy when browser tracking is limited.
Deduplication
One shared event ID across Pixel and API, so nothing is counted twice.
Testing
Events checked in Ads Manager before any budget is spent.
How we run Conversion tracking
A clear process, repeated every month.
Audit
We review what you run today, check tracking and agree the numbers that matter.
Build and test
We set up campaigns, creative and pages, then test versions against each other.
Scale and report
Budget moves to what works. You get a simple, jargon-free report every month.
How ChatGPT ads attribution works
When someone clicks a ChatGPT ad, a click reference is added to your landing page URL. The Measurement Pixel stores it in a first-party cookie and links later conversions to the ad. The Conversions API sends events from your server, using a Pixel ID even if the browser Pixel is not installed.
How to set up the OpenAI Measurement Pixel
- Create a Pixel in Ads Manager and copy its Pixel ID.
- Add the Pixel script to every page, directly or through Google Tag Manager.
- Fire standard events on the right actions, such as a lead form success or a completed purchase with value.
- Add the Conversions API from your server or platform, sending the same events with a shared event ID.
- Test events in Ads Manager before any budget is spent.
What to track
- Standard events such as purchases and leads. Conversion-optimized campaigns currently work with standard events, not custom ones.
- Values for purchases, so you can see return on ad spend.
- View-through conversions, which Ads Manager reports separately from click-through conversions.
Tracking ChatGPT traffic in GA4
Clicks from ChatGPT ads and from links in ChatGPT's answers both arrive at your site, but they are different things. We tag ad traffic with UTM parameters so it shows as paid, and create a GA4 channel group for AI assistant referrals, such as chatgpt.com, so organic AI traffic is visible too. See tracking and analytics.
One measurement system for every channel
We set ChatGPT tracking up alongside your Google Ads, Meta and GA4 tracking, so every channel is compared on the same leads and sales.
Frequently asked questions
What is the ChatGPT ads Measurement Pixel?
A browser script from OpenAI that attributes website events, such as purchases or leads, to ChatGPT ads. It is set up with a Pixel ID from Ads Manager.
Do I need the Conversions API too?
It is recommended. It sends conversions from your server, which helps when browser tracking is blocked, and works together with the Pixel using a shared event ID.
Can I optimize for custom events?
Not currently. Conversion-optimized campaigns use standard events, so we map your key actions to the right standard events.
How do I see ChatGPT traffic in GA4?
Tag ad clicks with UTM parameters, and create a custom channel group for AI assistant referrals such as chatgpt.com, so both paid and organic ChatGPT traffic are visible.
