What a Facebook ads audit covers
A Facebook ads audit is a review of your Meta ads account to find what is wasting budget and what is holding results back. We check:
| Area | What we look for |
|---|---|
| Tracking | Pixel and Conversions API events, deduplication, values, Event Match Quality |
| Structure | Too many small ad sets, overlapping audiences, campaigns stuck in learning |
| Creative | Fatigue, frequency, number of distinct angles, format coverage |
| Audiences | Over-narrow targeting, missing exclusions, retargeting gaps |
| Objectives and bidding | Optimising for the wrong event, unrealistic cost caps |
| Funnel | Landing pages, lead forms and follow-up speed |
How to audit a Facebook ads campaign yourself
- Check events: in Events Manager, are purchases or leads arriving once, with values, from both browser and server?
- Compare with reality: do Meta's purchases or leads roughly match your store or CRM?
- Look at frequency and creative age: are the same few ads running for months with rising costs?
- Count ad sets: are many ad sets getting only a handful of conversions a week?
- Check the optimisation event: is each campaign optimising for the result you actually want?
- Review the funnel: click your own ads and follow the path to purchase or enquiry.
Common problems we find
- Duplicate purchase events that inflate return on ad spend.
- Campaigns optimising for clicks or landing page views instead of sales or leads.
- Creative that has not changed in months.
- Budgets split across so many ad sets that none can learn.
- Lead forms bringing volume but few qualified leads, with no CRM feedback.
